The idea of building a Mosque even close to what was the World Trade Center and was destroyed along with 3000 innocent lives by a group of Muslim fanatics is preposterous, obnoxious and truly unbelievable.. It can only bring about more bitterness, along with continued sorrowful remembrances of the loss of lives and destruction of property as well as the destruction of so many of Americans livelihood’s and generates even more feelings of hypocrisy and disgust that such an proposal is even given any consideration. It is almost like building an edifice in memory of the terrorists and allowing them to thumb their noses at the people whose family members and friends had been affected by the senseless destruction of the World Trade Center and the surrounding areas. A building is a building; it is concrete and is no bridge to any reconciliation, as if we even want it. The Mosque is an insult to the Americans who were murdered there. 9/11 was an attack that most Americans experienced in a way unlike any other. It remains an open wound, especially but not only for those who lost friends and loved ones. As such, Ground Zero is a place of mourning, much like Auschwitz is.. The attack was carried out in the name of Islam. Even if most Muslims do not share the aims or feelings of the perpetrators of this crime, they do share a religion and its basic tenets. I believe that they owe us sensitivity for our grief. That's basically what ADL's statement pointed out. As a New Yorker who has visited Ground Zero, many, many times since the attack and was there on September 12, 2001, to actually witness the smell of the fire and the rubble I can attest to the fact that anything close to a Mosque would be nothing less than a slap in the faces of the families and first responders who have suffered more that their share since that awful day. A 13 or 15 building would stick out like a sore thumb on that block, being more than twice as tall as the current building and most on that block. It probably would be visible from Ground Zero. Calling it a Community Center is just a rouse. Religious freedom has nothing to do with this. There are plenty of other sites in New York to build their “Community Center” otherwise known as a MOSQUE . Just get it the hell out of the Ground Zero area. Ground Zero is a symbol of both our failure and our resilience. It should not also be a symbol of the Cult that brought it all about to begin with. A few years ago pope John Paul II called off the building of a convent near the entrance to Auschwitz, out of sensitivity to the grief of Jews who lost an entire world there. Thus he paved a way for reconciliation. It would be good for the Muslim leaders to follow his example. Two blocks away , it's just too close, there are many other places, even if Islam can be trusted, which it can’t! Remember 911, Remember the Underwear Bomber, Remember the Shoe Bomber, Remember the Fort Hoot shooter, Remember the idiot the called the Times Square New York Terrorist! And another thing, we don’t even really know the truth about where this money is coming from! Who is funding this farce? Islam is not a religion! It is a very dangerous, militant and barbaric cult, whose core principles are in direct conflict with the principles of the United States. Haven’t we already seen that so many times? Build your Mosque elsewhere.

As for the bill that would have provided funds to first responders and residents who were sickened by the toxic dust... For 9 years the rescue workers have tried and tried over and over to get the healthcare needed to treat the injuries that they sustained when they worked at ground zero on September 11, 2001, when those planes filled with those miserable Muslim Terrorist’s slammed into the World Trade Center towers. . And this was the bill that would finally have granted those sick 9/11 rescue workers some help... This has been nothing less than a slap in the faces of the families and first responders who have suffered more that their share since that awful day. When will enough be enough?
We the people elected these politicians and we have to throw them out next time. We can’t keep these moral cretins in office over and over again when they do not represent us. … we have to remove them from office. Political parties don't matter, everyone of them and start over. The message will have been sent, the government works for the welfare of the people and not just for themselves and their pockets and their power.
